Carol Sue Fletcher

Carol Sue Fletcher was born December 11, 1959 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Orville Wayne and Jouise Bertie Garner Fletcher. She preferred to be called ‘Sue’, and grew up in Clifton, Colorado. She spent her childhood in a small house in Clifton, surrounded by family, and was very close to many of her cousins. She developed a deep affection for animals, which eventually lead her be spend many years working as a dog groomer, a profession she loved.

Truth be told, Sue spent her lifetime caring for all types of animals. She was passionate about giving them the best care possible. She often said she preferred the company of animals to people. She never had any children, but considered her animals her children. Her love for animals was legendary and she would spend all of her money on her animals. She once said if she won the lottery she would open an animal sanctuary, where she could her spend her fortune carrying for all types of animals.

Unfortunately, her father passed away in 1963 when she was very young, so she rarely spoke about him. Sue spent most of her life caring for her mother, Jouise. She was a security guard at Sundstrand. She also worked at the hospital with her mom. In 2008, Sue and Jouise moved to Deseret, Utah. They settled into the community who accepted them with open arms. She spent her days caring for every possible type of animal. She raised chickens, pigeons, goats, pigs and all kinds of dogs and cats

Her beloved mother, Jouise Bertie Fletcher, passed on May 3, 2021 and was put to rest on May 14, 2021, in Elwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colorado. On the same day, Sue was taken to the emergency room, was hospitalized and eventually transferred to Millard Care facility in Delta, Utah. She passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at age 62 from kidney/liver failure

Sue is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Gerry Fletcher and James Fletcher. She is survived by brother: Allen (Louise) Fletcher, Denver, Colorado; aunt: Shirley Hindman; and many cousins that she grew up with: Brenda Caywood, Ruby Hindman, Steven Hindman, Camile Whitmore, Bryan Garner, Mark Garner, Danny Garner and Evelyn King.
