Stanley Everett Weingart

Stanley E. Weingart, age 55, passed away at his home in Delta, Utah on May 30, 2022 after a lengthy illness. His family and his beloved terrier, Marty, kept him company until the end.

Stan was born on December 8, 1966, in Norwich, Connecticut to Patricia R. Henson Weingart and Herman R. Weingart, Jr. Stan grew up on the family dairy in eastern Connecticut and was active in 4-H and FFA as a youth. He loved baseball, both as a player and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. As one of ten siblings, there was always a pack of folks to play with, do chores together, and go exploring in the woods. He graduated from Ledyard High School, completed the two-year certificate program at the University of Connecticut’s Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in animal science at Colorado State University.

Stan had a diverse career ranging from dairy herdsman to plant grower to hoof trimmer to biomedical research to yacht club manager to Connecticut State Trooper and back to dairy management when he moved to Delta in 2007, to become herd health manager at Nye Family Dairies. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserve, where he earned a meritorious promotion to the rank of Sergeant and served a tour of combat duty at Camp Fallujah in Iraq.

Stan was a life-long learner and voracious reader who enjoyed investigating new ideas. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved the ocean, camping, and hiking. He was always up for a road trip, particularly if it involved watching baseball at any level from high school on up to the major leagues. He was passionately interested in music, teaching himself to play guitar and listening to artists such as Robert Earl Keen and Willie Nelson. He also liked to cook and was always on the look-out for new recipes and techniques, especially for his Traeger grill.

Stan was a tiller of the soil. His year was divided into gardening season and garden planning season. He planted trees in honor of family members, taking great care in matching exactly the right species to the individual. Even as recently as March, he asked for cuttings from his Mom’s forsythia bushes so he could have a piece of the family homestead here in the desert. Because he loved growing things so much, the family invites you to remember Stan by planting vegetables, flowers, or trees in your own garden and thinking of him as you enjoy them, rather than sending floral arrangements at this time.

Stan was preceded in death by his father: Herman; and is survived by his mother: Patricia; brothers: Richard, Louis (Maria L.), Thomas (Deborah), Calvin (Sharon), Bob (Veronica), and Chris (Pamela) Weingart; sisters: Maria (John) Nye, Janet (Don) Smith, and Sandra Weingart; aunt: Eleanor (Roger) Sherwin; uncles: Dick (Helen) Weingart, Eugene Henson, and Dick (Linda) Wolz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.  He also leaves behind Marty McGee, Terrier Extraordinaire, who is the last in a long line of devoted canine companions. See you in Pen Six, Stan!

Celebrations of Stan’s life will be held later this year in Delta, and in Franklin, Connecticut. Details will be announced in due time. Online condolences may be shared at www.nicklemortuary.com
