Winona Alldredge Tolbert, lovingly known as “Nonie”, was born on February 25, 1944, to Mervyn Jay “Pizzy” and Bernice Roper “Bonnie” Alldredge. She passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Delta, Utah. Winona married Fred Sherman Tolbert on January 11, 1964, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 28, 1965. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and family.
Winona was raised in Oak City, Utah, where she developed a deep love for the town and the nearby mountains. Her life was defined by devotion to family, creativity, and service. She was a woman of many talents—macramé artist, porcelain and Cabbage Patch doll maker, wedding cake decorator, and skilled seamstress who lovingly crafted clothes for her children.
Her culinary skills were legendary. From hearty meals to cinnamon rolls and shrimp cocktails, Winona’s kitchen was always filled with warmth and delicious aromas. She bottled everything from deer and pheasant to stews, chili, pickles, cherry pie filling, and homemade grape juice. Her candies and cookies were cherished by all, and she was even known to serve “Rocky Mountain Oysters” disguised as rattlesnake at ward functions—always with a wink and a smile.
Above all, Winona was a nurturer. Her hands were rarely still, and her heart was always open. Winona’s legacy is one of creativity, service, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Winona was the devoted mother of her six children: Fred Clay (Laile) Tolbert, Gaylen Jay Tolbert, Jason Tolbert, Jeana (Johnny) Gutierrez, Brent Sherman (Shanna) Tolbert, KristiLyn (Matt) VanDam. She was a proud grandmother to 19 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her posterity and her beloved husband: Fred.
