Willa Mae Johnson Williams Overson

Willa Mae Johnson Williams Overson, age 88, of Lynndyl Utah passed away quietly on September 3, 2026 in the Delta Community Hospital. She was born on October 19, 1937 in Salt Lake City Utah. The oldest of seven children to Willard and Doris Roberts Johnson.

Willa Mae graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1956. She married Boyde Williams on July 7, 1955 (at just 17 years of age). They lived in American Fork in a single bedroom house until their family added their four sons. They knew they needed to expand and moved to the farm. Often, like children, a baby pig or calf, got to spend a few days in the house till able to be returned to its rightful mother. In all, she lived in American Fork for about 40 years.

Willa Mae divorced in 1979 and went to work at Roberts Manufacturing, attended trade school and eventually became a building supervisor at the Utah State Training School.

She eventually met and married Joe Willes Overson. They still lived in American Fork till 2008 when they moved to Lynndyl.

Willa Mae has always cherished her faith in Jesus Christ, loved learning of Him and served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She possessed a broad knowledge of the gospel and taught youth of almost every age at some point in her life. She was a chorister in primary, Relief Society President and at one point, even sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. But by far, her favorite calling was that of a mother. She confided to her children that being a mother was the one job where she felt like she was doing the most good. When serving became harder she became a gracious recipient of the service of others, always offering thanks and appreciation to those who came by. Willa Mae had a wonderful spirit and heart full of love. We will miss her!

Willa Mae is survived by her husband: Joe Overson; sons: Dwane (Virginia) Williams, Glenn (Huan) Williams, Larry (Sue) Williams; daughter: Linda (Terry) Whitener; sons: Robert (Lori) Williams, and David Williams. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Beverly Merrick. She leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even some great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son: Kenneth Vern Williams; grandson: ‘Little’ Kenny Williams; and siblings: Darrel Johnson, Devonna Armstrong, LaRay Lovell, Robert Johnson, and Lloyd Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 12, at 11:30 am, at the Leamington Ward LDS Chapel, 90 Center Street. A Viewing will be held, 10:00-11:10 am, prior to the service. Those unable to attend in person may view the recorded video of the service. Link will be posted with her obituary at www.nicklemortuary.com following the conclusion of the service. Burial will follow at the Lynndyl Cemetery.
