Shelby Orene Noland, age 93, of Scipio, Utah, died peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the Millard County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Delta, Utah. He was born in Weston, Missouri on April 27, 1932, to Caples Marvin and Philena Mae Long Noland. The family moved from Missouri to Salina, Utah in 1945. There he attended and graduated from North Sevier High School. He married his sweetheart, Betty Jean Whitlock, on July 15, 1950 in Axtell, Utah. Together they raised their two beloved children: Paul and Vickie.

Shelby proudly served his country in the US Air Force (1952-56). During this period, he served in the Korean Conflict where he achieved the rank of Airman 1st Class. He moved his family to Tucson, Arizona in 1956, then later to Oracle, Arizona; where he worked as a smelter foreman at Magma Copper for 28 years. After retirement, Shelby and his wife, Betty, moved to Scipio, to enjoy a town and lifestyle they both loved.Shelby had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, pursuing elk and deer across Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona and Colorado. His love for fishing took him not only across the United States, but also to Alaska, Canada, Mexico and Panama. These adventures were among his greatest joys. Along the way, Shelby developed lifelong friendships with hunting and fishing buddies and their families.

Shelby is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife: Betty; and his son: Paul; also by many loved ones including three brothers, two sisters and several brothers and sisters-in-law who were dear to him. He is survived by his daughter: Vickie (Richard) Andresano of Tucson, Arizona; sister: Ethelyn Claude of Tucson, Arizona; brother: Kenny (Shauna) Noland of Scipio, Utah; sister-in-law: Dena Noland of Salt Lake City; 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Shelby will always be remembered for his love of family, his adventurous spirit, his witty sense of humor and his appreciation of the simple, lasting pleasures found in nature.

In accordance with Shelby’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
