Marie Alberta English Chadwick Post, age 89, passed away on May 6, 2026 in Delta, Utah. She was born on August 19, 1936 in Standardville, Utah to Harley Cooper English and Eleanor Blanch Lamph English. Marie had 2 older sisters, Patricia and Leona; and 2 older brothers, Louis and Elliott. She was the baby of the family and loved all the attention she could get.
Marie married Jay Max Chadwick on May 5, 1952 in Helper, Utah. They had 7 children together, but later divorced.
Marie lived in Garden City, Kansas most of her life. She worked as a waitress most of the time, but also worked in the fiberglass factory, ran a combine for a farmer, operated a grain silo, and any other odd job she could find when necessary to pay the bills. Her passion was waitressing and owning her own truck stop café in Garden City. Everyone knew Marie and loved her good food, humor and wit. Later in life she even helped her husband repair radiators in his radiator shop.
Marie moved to Delta in October of 2022 so she could be closer to family, and she thought she had moved to the end of the world. She liked all the medical staff that helped her see better and feel better, but thought there should be more to a growing city that made life grand (like a Sonic or a KFC). She crocheted to keep her fingers limber and gave all of her lap quilts away to people who treated her with respect and kindness. She loved to play cards (gin and canasta), scrabble, farkle, nine and pigs. Going gambling in Ely with a set amount of money was a passion she continued periodically. After buying an iPad though, she could play the games on it that didn’t require her to gamble with money anymore. It was just what she needed to play games and keep her mind strong.
Marie is survived by her children: Steven Jay, Carl Lynn, Max Cooper, Peggy Ann and Debra Eleanor; 11 grandchildren, 26+ great grandchildren, and at least 2 great-great granddaughters (1 would be born within a week of her passing). She is preceded in death by her daughters: Zella Marie and Susan Kay; and all 4 of her siblings.
Marie had many struggles and trials through her life, but she always picked herself up and dusted herself off. She helped everyone she could and if she was taken advantage of she would just decide to learn from the experience and try again. Marie has many friends near and far and will be missed by all.
