Margaret Dekker Glines, age 70, passed away on May 14, 2026, at St. Mark’s Hospital in Millcreek, Utah. She was born on September 29, 1955 in Delta, Utah to Arjaan “Whitey” and Elaine Webb Dekker. She grew up in Delta and graduated from Delta High School. While there, she had a lot of fun with her friends participating in the Del-Teens Spirit Squad. She attended Snow College and earned an Associates Degree in Psychology and then pursued a Bachelor’s degree. After college she moved to Salt Lake City, first working in a green house, and then as a Manager at Checker Auto Parts.
She married the love of her life, Roland Johnson Glines, on July 8, 1989 in Salt Lake City. They made their home various places around the Salt Lake Valley while they raised their beloved son, Anthony. They later divorced.
In 1994, Margaret and Anthony moved to Delta. She provided volunteer services to the 4-H, teaching sign language and helping direct the program. She served in many LDS Church callings, but her favorite was as a Primary Teacher. Margaret worked hard to make her home a safe and nurturing environment for her son and his friends. She was like a second Mom and loved having activity all around her. She was an excellent gardener and grew many beautiful flowers. She was skilled at drawing and painting and loved doing it. She loved spending time outside in nature, and made extra effort to have those experiences.
We will always remember Margaret for her always fun, sometimes sarcastic, sense of humor. Her caring and nurturing spirit and effort to make everybody happy. She was the queen of the backyard campout, and created a tradition of everybody sleeping outside before the 4th of July celebration that was enjoyed by her family for years. Margaret made the people around her feel good, and we will all miss her deeply.
Margaret is survived by her son: Anthony (Taylor) Glines; and brother: Robert (Sheryl) Dekker. She is preceded in death by sister: Arjanna (Roy) Wood; brother: Bill Dekker; and sister: Doris (Grant) Bennett.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 11:00 am, at the Delta City Cemetery.
A Special Thank You to Monument Health in Murray and the staff of St. Mark’s Hospital for the attention and care they provided Margaret.
