Julie Bartholomew Johnson, age 64, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend, passed away on December 21, 2025, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Julie was born on June 30, 1961, in Fillmore, Utah, to Duane Orlo and Rula Mae Griffiths Bartholomew. She was the youngest of six siblings—Joyce, Craig, Randy, Jayne, and Joan—and was sincerely loved by each of them. Julie treasured time spent with her brothers and sisters and shared a close and loving bond with her family. She grew up in Fillmore and graduated from Millard High School, were she was participated on the Selgaes Drill Team.
Julie married her beloved husband, David E Johnson, on May 21, 1982 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They began their married life in Teasdale, Utah, where they spent their first two years building their family, and later moved to Sutherland, Utah, where they raised their eight children. Julie loved her husband deeply and was constantly finding ways to support and care for him. Besides providing great support to him in his business; and she also opened “Country Copies”, her own business she loved and ran for over 20 years.
Julie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. No matter the assignment, she served wholeheartedly and to the best of her ability. She especially loved serving in Young Women, where she was deeply respected and loved by both those she served with and the young women she served. Julie had a special gift for helping young women feel valued, loved, and aware of their Heavenly Father’s love for them. She found a friend in everyone she met. She was kind to everyone, always serving with a happy heart.
Together, Dave and Julie were called to serve in the Raleigh, North Carolina mission as Military Relations missionaries. Julie thoroughly enjoyed her time in missionary service, and the people of Havelock grew to love her dearly. She became well known for her incredible bread, rolls, and cinnamon rolls, even teaching a bread-making class on the base. Dave and Julie served the people of their mission with their whole hearts.
Julie had an immense love for her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She devoted herself to serving each of her children and did everything she could to help them succeed in life. Her favorite joy was watching her children and grandchildren participate in their many activities. She was their biggest supporter and loudest cheerleader.
Julie was always planning ways to bring her family together. Whether it was a fancy Christmas Eve dinner, adult and children’s Easter egg hunts, Fourth of July barbecues, back-to-school parties, or a simple summer evening hot dog roast, these gatherings were never to be missed. She invested herself in creating and cherishing all the special moments she shared with her family through Scrapbooking. She has created over 100 thick scrapbooks that her kids and grandkids will forever treasure. She taught her children the importance of loving and supporting one another and worked tirelessly to keep her family close. Julie’s children and grandchildren will miss her every single day. She was truly the best.
