Iris Jeannine Holman Harris

November 2, 1934 — April 15, 2026

Delta, Utah

Iris Jeannine Holman Harris, age 91, passed away on April 15, 2026 at her home in Delta, Utah. She was born on November 2, 1934 in Anaconda, Montana to Earl Foster and Lilac Margarete Keppler Holman. She was the second of six children. Her family moved to Delta in 1939, where she grew up on the family farm in the South Tract area. As a girl she drove the tractor, worked the fields, and enjoyed riding her horse, Rocky. Iris was very musically talented. She learned to play the piano, violin, and flute. Iris graduated from Delta High School where she shared her talents singing with a girls group of others in her class. She also caught the attention of Robert L Harris, making a note in her diary on that day, “Yippee!! He talked to me.” She eventually attended BYU, and there Robert followed her. They got married on June 28, 1954 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Early in their marriage, Robert joined the US Army. Due to his service Iris would live in Pacific Grove, California; Baltimore, Maryland; and Kaiserlautern, Germany. When they returned to Delta, Iris worked as a telephone operator, hotel clerk, Avon products salesperson, bookkeeper, and tried her hand as a photographer. She also assisted her husband in running a Fossil and Minerals business for 50 years. When Robert and Iris decided to build a house of their own, she did much of the construction putting in the wall board in all the ceilings and walls. Along with these jobs, she also helped her mother-in-law run a Flea Market in the garage between their houses.

More than anything else, Iris was dedicated to her family and her children. She was a constant support and loved to joke and laugh with them. She raised five children, and took care of another five foster children including: Delbert (Lela) Chatter, Fritz (Lois) Templin, and Lori (David) Bunker. She was kind to everyone, and was especially grateful for the relationships she built with her many latin american friends.

Iris had strong testimony and served in many Ward and Stake callings, and was an ordinance worker in the Manti Temple. She spent countless hours doing Family History and Extraction.

Iris is survived by her husband: Robert; children: Kevin (Celia) Harris, Delta; Robin Harris, Lewes, Delaware; Michelle (David) Mazzettia, Cedar City; Dana (Charles) Chamberlain, Cedar City; Shawn (Becky) Harris; 24 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; brothers: Ladd Holman, Leamington; Kim Holman, Delta; sister: Althea Crapo, Delta. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Eugene and Robert Holman.
