Glen Sanford Taylor Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025 in Delta, Utah. He was born on September 14, 1941, in Provo, Utah, to Garth Sanford and Naomi Marie Miller Taylor. He was raised in the LDS church which proved to be a strong influence for him throughout his entire life.
When he was 17, he had graduated high school and chose to enter the US Navy to serve his country during Vietnam. He served on the USS Coral Sea and ran the ships store. He received high praise for his work there. That had a positive influence, so strong, that he carried it with him his entire life. Upon returning from the service he felt the strong desire to serve a mission for the LDS church. He was called to the Southern States Mission, serving faithfully for 2 years. He then went on to attend the LDS Business College and graduated with a degree in Business.
He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Baird, on July, 14th 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple. Glen was always very strong in the church and served in many positions throughout his life including bishop, high councilman, 1st counselor and 2nd counselor as well as many others. His desire to serve also led him to be a Boy Scout leader for 5 years. He always had a strong testimony of the gospel that never wavered.
He was first employed and worked for several years for the Union Pacific Railroad. He later had the opportunity to work in that same field with IPP, and moved his family to Delta. Through the years, he had a great relationship with the people he worked with. Glen retired from IPP and once again lived his dream of running a store, when he opened and ran the Deseret Country Store for many years. He loved seeing everyone that came in, and spent countless hours sharing his stories with everyone he could. He was a great story teller and you never knew if you'd be there a few minutes or a few hours. We know he's in a better place and that the reunion with his brothers was loud and joyful. We love you and will miss you. Till we meet again....
Glen was proceeded in death by his parents, his three younger brothers: Jerry Taylor, Larry Taylor and Alan Taylor; and his grandson: Hunter Palmer. He is survived by his wife: Liz; sister: Janet; and children: Glen (Marcie) Taylor, Lisa (Rick) Fowles, Scott Taylor, Heather Taylor and TJ (Kandie) Taylor. He has 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandbabies that he loved and was always proud of.
