David Ray Walker, age 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Abraham, Utah on June 14, 2025. He was born on May 9, 1957, in Sutherland, Utah; the fourth of the five children of Roger and Erma Reeder Walker. He grew up in the Delta area, learning to work hard on the family farm. During his youth, he enjoyed participating in Scouting activities, riding dirtbikes and going hunting. He graduated from Delta High School, and then earned his Heavy Diesel Mechanic Certification from Salt Lake Community College.
David returned to Abraham to join again in managing the family farm. The farm allowed him to raise tons of alfalfa hay, Holsten Cattle, and his two beloved children: Ashley and Jennifer. David loved exploring the desert with friends and family. He sought out undiscovered petroglyphs and interesting sights. He was interested in teaching his children and grandchildren how to live on what is freely provided by nature, by including them in his enjoyment of hunting game, catching fish. He had an active mind and love to read books, study geology and ancient history. As well as learn about recent history and read Louis L’amour novels. He found great peace Nature.
David was always generous and understanding. He was the kind to guy that would never judge the difficulties facing others, but would help out his neighbors and friends however he could. David will be remembered for his quiet strength, love of family, and deep connection to the land and traditions he cherished. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by his children: Ashley (Rachelle) Walker and Jennifer (Skye) Nielson; his grandchildren: Shyanne, Jax, Tessa, Devin, Chai and Zaeleb; great grandchildren: Jimena, Scarlett, and Oliver; brother: Jim (Laura) Walker; sisters: Cheryl (Alan) Edwards and Wendy (Bill) Lowery. He is preceded in death by his brother: Wynn Walker.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, at 11:00 am, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St, Delta. A Viewing will be held, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service. Those unable to attend are invited to view the recorded video of the service. Link will be posted with his obituary at www.nicklemortuary.com on Monday following the conclusion of the service. Burial will follow at the Sutherland Cemetery.
