Arthur Wesley Fleming, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2025, in Delta, Utah. He was born on August 13, 1941 in Grand Junction, Colorado, the fourth of five children born to Cecil Vinton and Minnie Belle Weathers Fleming. He grew up living in various places in Colorado. He graduated from Tonopah High School in Nevada. A few years after graduating, he enlisted in the US Army in 1964. He was trained as a Diesel Mechanic and Advanced Infantryman, and was sent to Vietnam for his tour of service. After being honorably discharged in 1966, he was hired to work for the Union Pacific Railroad and stationed in Milford, Utah.
Arthur met and married Linda Cook. They raised three children together: Trena, Tammy and Scott. They were later divorced. During this period, Arthur began work as a long haul truck driver. Eventually he was hired to haul lava rock, a job which brought him to Fillmore, Utah. While there he pursued and successfully charmed Clella Watts. They were married on July 27, 1973 in the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada (later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in 2011). Arthur became a father to Clella’s son, Van, and they had three more children together, Jarrod, Trampis and Jamie. They first made there home in St. George, Utah where he worked for J&J Mill Lumber. When he retired, they moved to Kanosh, Utah in 1983, and there he and Clella made many wonderful friends.
As his kids grew up, Arthur wanted provide opportunities for them to excel. He was instrumental in organizing the T-Ball league in Kanosh so his kids could play, and he volunteered his time as a coach. He also got involved with 4-H instructing youth in horsemanship. This carried him to serve as an advisor for the Millard High School Rodeo Club. He loved being outdoors fishing and hunting. Arthur was a big man with a gruff exterior, but truly had a gentle heart and deep caring for the youth. His sudden loss will be deeply felt by his family, friends and community.
