Paula Auguste Zwart Gollan, age 88, passed away on July 14, 2022 in her home in Delta, Utah. She was born November 21, 1933 in Velsen, North Holland, in the Netherlands to Albertus and Emma Erna Bertha Haupt Zwart. She grew up in the Netherlands and lived through the Nazi occupation during World War II. After graduating high school, she attended one year of medical school in Amsterdam earning high marks. At the end of the war, Paula immigrated to New Zealand. There she worked as a proof reader for a publishing company and also as a bookkeeper in Auckland. After 14 years in New Zealand, Paula immigrated to the United States, where her parents were then residing. She earned her U.S. citizenship, then returned to her studies in medicine at the University of Utah. She earned high marks, being recognized by the faculty on the Dean’s List. She graduated as a R.N. M.S.

She worked as an R.N. in California, Wyoming and Utah. She worked at Primary Children’s Hospital, and later at the Veterans Hospital, as supervisor of the first PTSD treatment unit during the Vietnam War. After finishing work at the Woodland Memorial Hospital in California, Paula and her partner, Dale Rogers, moved to Cottonwood Heights, Utah where she ran a private practice until she retired. In October of 2021, they relocated the small town of Delta, Utah.

Paula was a woman who loved and respected every human being that she met. She touched many lives and devoted her energy to healing the minds and spirits to everyone she could. She will be deeply missed.
