Darlene Ruth Williams Kallin

Darlene Ruth Williams Kallin, age 89, passed away on June 17, 2022 at her residence in Sutherland, Utah. She was born on October 1, 1932 in Salt Lake City to James A. and May Belle Baldwin Williams.

Darlene was very proud of her Sioux heritage and always wished she had more Indian blood. She loved doing her genealogy work, and worked in the Family Research Center in Delta for five years. She loved gardening (especially tending her beautiful irises), hunting, fishing, camping, cake decorating and was an awesome seamstress. In her early 30’s, she belonged to a Hawaiian dance group in Montana where she excelled in all forms of Hawaiian dance: hula, Tahitian and torch dances.  She held many jobs in the church, including Stake Relief Society Homemaking Leader; but most of all enjoyed working in Cub Scouts and with the 9 to11 year-old girls. In previous years, she was active in the Utah and American Iris Societies, and won a few national awards for some of her iris. She also belonged to the Timpanogos Gem and Mineral Society and enjoyed searching for rocks and going to the rock club meetings.

She loved her family very much and will be deeply missed, but we know she is home with her Heavenly Father.

Darlene is survived by her spouse: James Lee Kallin; and children from a previous marriage: Sondra Jefferies, Marilyn (Harvey) Pinegar, Cheryl (Gary) Young, Steve (Hyang) Ames, Michael (Heather) Pinegar and Suzanne Soule; 21 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son: David Ames.

A Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 30, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at the Nickle Mortuary. No local funeral services will be held. Condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
