Jerry Donald Blanch

Jerry Donald Blanch passed  away on January 21, 2022 in his home in Santa Clara, Utah at the age of 86. He was born on May 21, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to James Donald and Eva Josephine Johnson Blanch. Jerry grew up in Burley, Idaho. When he was 14, his family moved to Abraham, and he graduated from Hinckley High School. He soon met his forever partner, Marilyn Mae Murray. They started dating right away and were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 4, 1955. They moved to St. George for their honeymoon; then soon after, moved to California where he began steel working. Jerry continued in this profession until retiring.

Jerry enjoyed participating in extreme sports. He could put on an amazing show of his skills including water skiing, trick skiing, flying a hang glider, and barefooting off the beach. In later years he "tore up the country" riding four-wheelers and side-by-sides.  He has been known to never ride on a paved trail, to Jerry groomed trails were for the faint at heart.  Because of their extreme sporting, his children are surprised their parents both made it to such a ripe old age.

Jerry loved working with wood and frequently engaged in service projects for the communities he lived in. He always loved helping out people, and his service included time managing the Bishops' Storehouse market and also serving as transient bishop.

Jerry was active in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He loved his church callings, including serving as a bishop, working at the Manti Temple, and also spent two summers at Martin's Cove (spraying for mosquitoes and playing the part of Ephraim Hanks were the highlights of his mission).

Jerry had three daughters:  Tony, Barb and Janet.  He was also blessed with six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. His family expresses gratitude and appreciation to the nurses, doctors and all other staff at Intermountain Home Health and Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Nickle Mortuary Chapel, 190 S Center St. A Viewing will be held , 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service. Those unable to attend in person are invited to view the recorded video of the service. The link will be posted with his obituary at www.nicklemortuary.com by Saturday afternoon. Jerry will be buried in the Delta City Cemetery.
