Ardythe Twitchell Harlow

Ardythe Twitchell Harlow, age 87, of Buford, Georgia, was born July 21, 1934, in Delta, Utah and died at home with her two children at her side on November 7, 2021.

A graduate of Delta High School in 1952, Ardythe moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she worked as a secretary. During this time she learned shorthand, typing and other office skills, and auditioned for and was invited to join what was then called the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (now the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square). She sang with the Choir intermittently thereafter for more than twenty-five years. She had a beautiful mezzo soprano voice and over the years was invited to sing at many religious, civic, sporting and family events, willingly sharing her talents in that capacity.

In late 1957, Ardythe chose to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the British Mission, which then included England, Wales, and Scotland. Over the next eighteen months, she quickly fell in love with the people and places where she served, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Coventry, and London, and she made many life-long friends.

Ardythe married Charles Frederick (Fred) Harlow in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1961, and they remained happily married for nearly 60 years until both passed in 2021. Their time together included moves to Boston, Massachusetts; Murray, Utah; Boulder, Colorado; and finally, the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia (1988), a place Ardythe quickly came to view as her hometown. Together they adopted Elizabeth (Libby) in 1965 and Charles (Chuck) in 1967. She was a loving and caring mother, always quick to crack a joke or share one of many colorful stories from her childhood.

Ardythe was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred; mother, Chlora Mae Steele; father, Tillman Elroy Twitchell; sister, LuDeane Twitchell Searle; and brother Lamar Twitchell. She is survived by her brother, Noel Twitchell, and children Elizabeth Harlow Miller (Robert) and Charles Frederick Harlow, Jr. (Lisie). She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ruben DiMarco (Bre), Nathan DiMarco (Natalia), Benjamin DiMarco, Jonathan DiMarco (Kody), Abigail Harlow, Caroline Harlow, Aaron Miller, Triniti Miller, Avari DiMarco, Luca DiMarco, and Francesca DiMarco. She also dearly loved her nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services were held in Flowery Branch, Georgia on November 12. Ardythe will be interred next to her beloved Fred at a Graveside Service held on Saturday, December 11, at 12:00 noon, at the Delta City Cemetery.
