Donald Ross Black, age 80, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at his home. Donald was born on April 8, 1941 in Worthington, Minnesota to Alma Cox Black and Marion Ellen Ross Black. He was the son of a Bee Keeper and was raised primarily in Texas. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in England. He married Sharon Jean Smith and they had three children. He received his Bachelors and Master’s degrees from Brigham Young University and his Doctorate from the University of Texas. He taught Speech and World Religion at Kansas City Kansas Community College for over 30 years retiring in August of 2021.
Donald is survived by his three children: David (Amy) Black of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Sara (Danny) Brown of Tallahassee, Florida; and Elisa Black of Pleasant Grove, Utah; sister: Jean Seegmiller of San Antonio, Texas; and grandson: Elliott Brown.
Funeral Services were held September 8 in Kansas City, Kansas. A Burial Service will be held at the Hinckley Cemetery on Monday, September 13, at 1:00 pm. Friends may gather at the Nickle Mortuary, 11:30-12:40, before traveling to the cemetery.
