José Julián Márquez

José Julián Márquez-Trillo passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 surrounded by loving family at his home in Delta, Utah after a long battle with cancer. He had just turned 16 years old. José was born on October 14, 2002 in Delta to Joaquín and Amanda Piedad Trillo Marquez. He was a very well behaved son who loved his family dearly. He was the middle child and was always a kind brother to his sisters, Pilar and Angela. Julián loved that fact that he had such a close family. He loved to hang out with his cousins; they boated, hung out at the canyon, went four-wheeling, and played video games. He was a good student and enjoyed school. Math was his favorite subject. He got along with students and teachers and was very well liked. His biggest passions were baseball and horses. He played baseball and was loved by his teammates and coaches. He loved watching baseball, and the Cardinals were his favorite team. He was grateful for the special experiences he has been able to have with his family, especially a trip to Arizona to see spring training baseball, and while there meeting Madison Bumgarner. He also loved riding horses and watching horse races. He enjoyed working with his family to help take care of their horses. He enjoyed hard work would always join his dad at work on weekends and summers.

After he got sick everything changed for his family. He brought them closer. He always wanted to go out with his cousins and he even went to school for awhile. Make-A-Wish took him and his sisters on a shopping spree in a limousine, and he went with his family to Las Vegas and got to ride in a helicopter. He had great memories. Until the day he left us he never ceased to have a smile. His smile was as bright as the sun. He will be remembered as the sweetest kid who always put everyone else before himself. He made sure you were happy, you were smiling, and you were okay before he started to consider himself. Even while battling his own sickness he was always helping his cousin, Ysabella, with her heart disease. He always tried to help other people and kept everyone else smiling and laughing. Although his battle was hard, he fought until the very end. Even at the end, he still left with a smile. He will always be a Warrior. We love you Julian. We will miss you, but you will forever be in our hearts. It’s not a goodbye, it’s an I’ll see you later.

José is survived by his parents: Joaquín and Amanda Márquez; sisters: Pilar and Angela; grandparents: Jacinto and Joaquina Marquez; Delia Anaya and Ramón Trillo.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 1:00 pm, at the Faith Christian Fellowship Church, 275 S 300 E, Delta. Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening, 6-8 pm, at the Nickle Mortuary; and Wednesday, 11:30-12:40, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery.
