Daryl Mahonri Cropper

DarylCropper2.webDaryl Mahonri Cropper, age 83, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Summerlin Hospital, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Daryl was born on June 12, 1933 in Hinckley, Utah to Mahonri Bishop and Erma Irene Ekins Cropper. He was raised in Hinckley, and attended elementary and high school there. He attended Brigham Young University, earning Bachelors and Masters degrees geology and secondary education. Following his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he married Ann Kelly in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 31, 1956. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Daryl worked in the public education system as a high school counselor and pupil personal director. He also worked for the BLM as director of the YACC Youth Program. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and exploring in the West Desert as a youth. He had a quick wit, loved people and shared many of his musical talents. Daryl was an active member of the LDS church, and was proud to serve in many calling. He served as a temple worker in the Las Vegas Temple.

Daryl is survived by his wife: Ann; daughters: Kelly (David) Bowers, Katherine (Alan) Bybee, Julie (Robert) Jackson, Jill (Donald) Prunty; sons: Daryl Cropper and Kyle (Jenese) Cropper; siblings: Glenda (Don) Conk, Gaylen (Kathy) Cropper, Connie (Chuck) Sledge, MaryEllen (Aaron) Evans; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Adam Leigh.

A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, at 12:00 noon, at the Oasis Cemetery, 1400 West 3200 South, Oasis. Services will be held in Las Vegas on Tuesday, February 21, at 11am, at the Bonanza LDS Chapel, 4500 W. Bonanza Rd; viewing prior, 9:30-10:40am.
