Wilburn Howard Curtis

Wilburn Howard Curtis, age 87, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 in Delta, Utah. He was born on March 1, 1929 in Spanish Fork, Utah to John Wilburn and Cecil Ingibjorg Johnson Curtis. He grew up in the area settled by Spanish Fork’s Icelandic pioneers. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School. He served a LDS mission to the New England States, where he was one of the last to serve “without purse or script”. He married Lois LaRene Koyle on May 14, 1952 in the Manti LDS Temple. He went to work as an electronic technician for AT&T, starting in Milford, then to Salt Lake City. He moved to Centerville, where he built his family house. In 1968, he moved to Delta, and again built his own family home, where he lived until retiring from AT&T. Lois died on January 3, 2006, after spending 53 years together. He later married Marjorie Fern Hardman on October 16, 2006 in Salem, Utah, and they have made their home in St. George. Howard was active in the LDS Church, serving a mission and in teaching positions from the nursery to the bishopric.

Howard is survived by his wife: Fern; sons: Bruce (Karen) Curtis, Delta; Blair (Julie) Curtis, Spring, TX; David (Sheila) Curtis, Eagle Mountain; Kevin Curtis, St. George; and his favorite daughter: Janette Curtis, Lehi; step-children: Larry and Lee Thompson; Addie Taggert; Bobbi Woffinden, Lora Jones, and Mike Kallas; 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; brother: Thelbert “Chub” (Marilyn) Curtis; sister: Jane (Tim) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife: Lois; brother: Paul; sister: Zola Gilner

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 16, at 11 am, at the Delta 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 222 West 200 North, Delta. A Viewing will be held, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to services. Burial will be at 3:00 pm in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
