Berdell J Memmott

BerdellMemmott2.webBerdell J Memmott, age 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 26, 2016 Delta, Utah. He was born December 8, 1929 in Oasis, Utah to Eugene and Lillie Ingaborg Jensen Memmott. He grew up in Oasis and graduated from Hinckley High School. He participated in many activities, including football, track, boxing, and musicals; and was elected Senior Class President. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Avona Skeem, on March 6, 1950, in the Manti LDS Temple. They loved spending time together, and would often be seen driving around town just enjoying their community. They had five children: Avona Mae, Vincent, Marilee, Penny, and Shelley.

Berdell worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and the telephone company. He served in many church church callings, including Bishop of the Oasis LDS Ward. He could fix about anything and was a great handyman, even rebuilding his old adobe family home room by room. He was known for his gardening, musical talents (participating with the Deseret Sentinels), quick wit and playful personality. He loved and took great pride in his posterity. He and Helen’s support assisted all of his grandchildren  on their LDS missions.

Berdell is survived by his children: Vincent J (DeeAnn) Memmott, Centerville; Marilee (Max) Wood, Delta; Penny (Gene) Stanworth, Oasis; Shelley (Alan) Warnick, Kaysville; 20 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Helen; daughter: Avona Mae; granddaughter: Madison Warnick; and siblings: Harold, Alice, Glenda, Grant, and DeVon.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, at 11:00 a.m., at the Deseret-Oasis Ward LDS Chapel, 3423 W 4500 S, Delta. A Viewing will be held Wednesday, 9:30-10:40 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in the Oasis Cemetery.

Our family thanks Dr. Steven Shamo the many caregivers at the Millard Care and Rehabilitation Center for all their kind care.
