James William Christensen, age 85, passed away in Delta, Utah, Wednesday May 6, 2015. Jim was born October 11, 1929 in Delta, Utah to Norvel John and Ella Bishop Christensen. He was blessed to be born in-between two loving sisters.
Jim grew up in Oasis, Utah. He graduated from Hinckley High School in 1947. On September 5, 1950, Jim married his high school sweetheart Ione Hilton, in the Manti Utah LDS Temple. Shortly after their marriage, Jim was called to serve an LDS mission in the West-Central States Mission. Upon his return, he was drafted into the Army during the Korean conflict. During his service, he was stationed in Germany with the occupational forces. He worked as Operations Foreman at Brush-Wellman for many years, and retired in 1990. He was a very hard worker and a loyal employee. Jim loved to camp, hunt, and fish with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed running his small farm and gardening. He especially enjoyed his hometown 24th of July Pioneer Day Celebration with his family. He was also active in the LDS church, holding many callings.
Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years: Ione; sons: Jim (Julie), Rick (Victoria), Garry (Janet), and Steve (Carla); sister: Helen (Harry) Bell; and brother-in-law: Dee Stevens. Jim leaves behind a legacy of 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with 3 more on the way. Jim is proceeded in death by daughter: Becky Lynn Christensen; grandson: Kurt Lovell Christensen; and sister: Vera Stevens.
Funeral services for Jim will be held at 12:00 Noon on May 11, in the LDS Delta West Stake Center, 188 North Main St, Hinckley, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday evening from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 South Center Street, Delta, Utah; and Monday morning at the church, 10:00-11:40 am. Interment will be at the Oasis Cemetery.
